Mumps Outbreak Toolkit

ACHA, with assistance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), developed a toolkit to assist schools in providing accurate and engaging information to students regarding MMR vaccine, especially in the event of a mumps outbreak on campus. The toolkit includes:

Talking Points:  These talking points, which can be customized with campus-specific information, equip university administration to respond to questions about outbreak response measures during a mumps outbreak and the importance of early, targeted vaccination. The talking points include:

  • Outbreak Summary
  • What the university is doing, including 3rd dose recommendation
  • What students should do
  • What parents should do
  • What health departments are doing
  • General mumps information, including transmission and vaccination
  • Resources

Social Media Tools: images and sample social media posts to educate students on mumps symptoms, transmission, and vaccination, to be shared on campus social media channels.

"Don't Let Mumps Ruin Your Fun" Infographic: This poster contains the same content as the social media images, combined into one poster that can be printed or downloaded as a PDF or PNG and posted on a university website.
